According to a recent study conducted by the Chamber of Commerce of Milano and Promos Italia about the database of the main news published on the International press in 2019, more than 500 articles were published by the leading International newspapers and magazines about the city of Milan until mid December 2019 (+200 compared to the same period in 2018). 26% of the coverage concerns economic subjects matters, such as enterprises, finance and foreign investments but the most growing topics are fashion, especially during the Milan Fashion Weeks in February (44% of the reported publications) and September (20% of the total), culture and tourism with articles dedicated to La Scala opera house and several events about the 500th anniversary of Leonardo Da Vinci’s death. In particular, many newspapers such as Financial Times, The Telegraph and The Times broadly talked about Fashion Weeks, while Le Monde focused the attention on French designers’ attendance at Salone del Mobile fair. In regards to the tourism sector, on July 21st 2019, Le Monde dedicated an article to Piazza del Duomo, the symbol of Milan, which has registered an unexpected tourism growth in the last years.
